Martin Kirk is a Certified Anusara Yoga; Instructor who has gained a reputation for excellent and inspiring workshops and teacher trainings. He discovered his love for yoga in 1993 while earning a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering. He met John Friend the next year and became a devoted student of Anusara Yoga;. Martin’s understanding of the body is extensive and he has a special gift of taking complex subject matter and making it accessible, clear and applicable for the modern day yogi. His anatomy and therapy trainings are now legendary and greatly in demand worldwide. Martin further studies closely with his philosophy mentor, Professor Douglas Brooks, one of the world’s foremost scholars of Hindu Tantrism and the esoteric traditions of the Goddess. He has transitioned from a successful 20-year career as an engineer in the space industry to teaching and sharing his passion for yoga full-time. He is the author of the successful book, Hatha Yoga Illustrated. Martin and his wife, Jordan, are currently co-writing a yoga anatomy book that is due to be published by John Friend in the winter of 2008. Inspired by John Friend, Martin instills excellence in all of his practice and teaching of yoga. Martin resides in Scottsdale, Arizona and presents workshops and trainings worldwide.
Jordan Kirk is a Certified Anusara Yoga; Instructor who has been deeply immersed in the practice of yoga since 1984 and spent 6 years studying yoga, meditation and philosophy while living in the ashrams of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta organization. During this period, she directed yoga centers in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, and studied in India. Her background also includes the study of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga. In 1991, Jordan had the great blessing of meeting her teacher, John Friend. She continues to assist John nationally as well as study in-depth with her philosophy mentor, Dr. Douglas Brooks. Jordan is recognized as a leader in the Anusara Yoga; community and has a special gift for story telling, women’s workshops and empowering students to embody their own greatness. Her exuberant teaching style weaves Tantra philosophy, mythology, breath work and asana into a rich tapestry to awaken the human spirit. Jordan is further blessed that she can share her yogic journey with her soul mate and husband, Martin. They are currently co-writing a yoga anatomy book that is due to be published by John Friend in the winter of 2008.
